Daniel Driesbach

Daniel L. Dreisbach is a professor in the School of Public Affairs at American University in Washington, D.C. He received a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Oxford University, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar, and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia. He has authored or edited seven books, including Thomas Jefferson and the Wall of Separation between Church and State (New York Univ. Press, 2002). He has published over 60 book chapters, reviews, and articles in scholarly journals, including American Journal of Legal History, Constitutional Commentary, Emory Law Journal, Journal of Church and State, North Carolina Law Review, and William and Mary Quarterly. Professor Dreisbach was the 2008 recipient of American University’s highest faculty award, “Scholar / Teacher of the Year.”

Dreisbach is a ruling elder at McLean Presbyterian Church. He lives with his wife, Joyce, and their two daughters, Mollie and Moriah, in Virginia.

Mark Hall

Mark David Hall is Herbert Hoover Distinguished Professor of Political Science at George Fox University.  He received a BA in political science from Wheaton College and a PhD in Government from the University of Virginia.  His primary research and writing interests are American political theory and the relationship between religion and politics. He has published one book, The Political and Legal Philosophy of James Wilson, 1742-1798 (1997) and numerous articles. As well, he co-edited The Sacred Rights of Conscience: Selected Readings on Religious Liberty and Church-State Relations in the American Founding (2009), The Forgotten Founders on Religion and Public Life (2009), America's Forgotten Founders (2008), Collected Works of James Wilson 2 vol. (2007), and The Founders on God and Government (2004). He recently completed a book manuscript entitled The Old Puritan and a New Nation: Roger Sherman and the Creation of the American Republic and is co-editing Faith and Founders of the American Republic.  Professor Hall serves on the Board of Governors for Veritas School.
